Cheryl Kinderknecht’s work is primarily abstract in nature, she also enjoys creating representational figurative work and contemporary landscapes. Regardless of the subject matter or the medium, her work is heavily influenced by the colors, patterns, strata, and textures of the Kansas High Plains landscape where she grew up. Emotions, dreams, and memories further anchor and inform her work. Drawing inspiration from within, a stream of consciousness and intuitive process that is more attuned to expressing a mood or creating a sense of movement, balance, rhythm, and tension. Rather than focusing on a particular “subject,” or how things “should look” Cheryl focuses on her feelings and feels more creative and satisfied when her work is loose, untethered, and unselfconscious.
