“If you could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint.” (Edward Hopper)
Like Hopper, I find it difficult to explain my work, because it does not come necessarily from a logical place it emerges from a maelstrom of concerns, fascinations and experiences. Essentially, I am exploring in my images the disconnect between reality and the pervasive myths that surround us. I am questioning our purpose in these turbulent times and how we can avoid the emptiness of an unthinking existence.
My creative process varies. Mostly starting with an idea and work digitally, building in two or three dimensions. I enjoy using a variety of media, such as acrylic, oil, plastic, collage and metal, to construct still pieces, dioramas and videos. I go where the work takes me.
I have been hearing impaired since birth and this kept me somewhat isolated and unable to participate in many social activities. I turned instead to art, literature, philosophy for meaning and self-expression.
